Hello Blogandia!
Yes, after having just revealed the cover for my upcoming cozy mystery with detecting dragons, Hoard It All Before, (and for the next two books in the series), it’s already time for another cover reveal.
That’s right, it’s been some cover design mania going on lately.
However, unlike the cringe-worthy cover design horror show to finally come up with the perfect design for Hoard, this one was an absolute snap because I’d already found the perfect image a few months ago (sometimes the design gods can be benevolent).
And then, as if the design gods hadn’t been kind enough to me already with this cover, those well-clad beings smiled upon me and delivered unto me the perfect font that gave the cover a nice X-Files feel to it, which is exactly what I was going for.
Mash it all together and here’s what happened…
Okay, after seeing that cover I bet you’re thinking, “Tammie, I thought you were doing fantasy/humor/mystery stuff now. What’s with this cover that looks serious and science-fiction-y?”
And if you’re not thinking that, well, you are now.
And if you were thinking that, you’re absolutely right.
I am primarily sticking with funnier fiction such as the Circus of Unusual Creatures Mysteries and the Cassie Black Trilogy. However, as I may have mentioned before, I’ve had the manuscript for Day 16 lurking in my files since maybe 2012 or 2013.
It’s definitely not light-hearted and would rather hang out with the supernatural thriller gang as opposed to the humorous fantasy kids, which is why I’m publishing it under T.L. Painter. Supposedly this keeps the branding gurus and algorithms happy.
I’m not sure how many books will be cranked out by this “pen name” or how often, but it should help avoid any confusion with the lighter Tammie Painter books (which will be my main writing focus).
Anyway, this book is still in the editing phase and it’s not my primary focus. But since it’s already up for pre-order on a few retailers and since I’ve set a release date of 26 July 2022 set, I can’t leave it too long.
Anyway, there’s a quickie description below if you’re curious. And with that I am outta here for the week…unless something super fun pops into my head that I just have to share.
What do you think of this cover? Does it grab your eye? What kind of story do think is hiding behind it?
Have a great week!!

DAY SIXTEEN (Description)
It’s not paranoia if it’s real.
At first Moire’s sleepwalking incidents don’t faze her. She’s never had them before, so surely they’ll pass. But when she notices they keep happening on a certain day, she wonders if there’s something more to her nightly wanderings.
Then there’s her husband Neil’s research project at the fertility clinic, his strange reaction to her taking birth control pills, and has he been tracking her cycle?
As further troubling events and coincidences plague Moire’s sleeping and waking world, her paranoia mounts. Paranoia Neil insists is a clear sign that Moire needs help.
Moire knows she needs to get a grip, that what she believes is too crazy to be true, but when people close to her start disappearing, she realizes she’s in a fight for her mind, and her body, and that what’s been happening is more disturbing than she could have imagined.
If you’re captivated by the X-Files and the Handmaid’s Tale, if you enjoy peeling back the layers of an otherworldly mystery, or if you’ve ever doubted what you’ve been told is true, you’ll find yourself gripped by Day Sixteen, a modern day thriller with light supernatural elements.
Grab your copy of Day Sixteen today to discover what happens when everything you they told you was crazy, turns out to be true.
Oooh, such X-Files vibes! Great job on the cover. I can’t wait!

Very welcome! 🙂
Aww, it’s totally okay. You are polishing things up and I have no doubt it’ll be lovely as always. For now you can put us readers in the rear view and hone in and focus on the revisions till you’re happy. I believe in you!

The font does have an X-Files look, which is good.
Between the object towards the top of the cover image and the description, my guess is she’s either part alien or supposed to give birth to one, but I understand we’ll have to wait to find out.
Funny thing, when I first saw the cover I was thought this might be a young adult book. Not sure why, maybe the figure looked young to me, or her pose did.
Hope the book does great. It sounds interesting.

Oh, that’s funny, I never thought of her as looking young or middle aged, but now that you say it, that’s all I see. And you’ve done really well with your plot guessing! Thanks for popping by : )
