Hello Bloglandia!

So just a quick post to warn you that it’s going to be kind of a crazy week of self-promotional posting to get the word out about Tuesday’s release of The Undead Mr. Tenpenny.

Here’s the basics of what’s in store…

  • Posts every day for the next week – I’ll share with you the story behind the story, some fun tidbits about certain parts of the book, I’ll clue you in to the furry secret behind naming my characters, and more!
  • Videos with almost every post! – Okay, this is the true warning. My ugly mug is going to accompany nearly every post this week. So, fair warning, and I apologize in advance for any vomiting at the sight of me.*
  • A whole lot of fun! – Warnings aside, I am a goofball, and I hope the videos and the posts give you a little smile. I had a great time writing this book, and I’m sure my enthusiasm shows.

Video Time!!!

To kick things off, I recorded a quick video explaining why videos are so far beyond my comfort level. It’s only about two minutes long…you know, to ease you into having to look at this face.

(It’s also the only video where my hair is down because I quickly get annoyed with my hair).

Just click the image to play the video…if you dare!!!

Alright, thanks for reading…and for watching, everyone. Here’s to a wonderful week!!

Below, you’ll find a few more details of what’s ahead, who to blame, and a quick promo spot.

Daily details of what’s ahead….

  • Monday – The Inspiration for The Undead Mr. Tenpenny (with video)
  • Tuesday – Release Day! Links and a repost of a stellar review. (no video, phew)
  • Wednesday – Double dose of videos. 1) The secret of my character names, and 2) Why my magic system made me drool more than once
  • Thursday – Oops, I forgot to tell you about the book. I do so in this post (with video) where I might also toss in a sample chapter.
  • Friday – I had too much fun with cultural references in the book, and thought I’d share a few (with video)
  • Saturday – Paperback show off!! What not to do with paperback design, and the final result after fixing it (with video)
  • Sunday – A break from my books to post about what I read in February
  • Wednesday (3 March) – Finally, what’s coming up next (with video)

*Who to blame for all this…I stole the video book launch idea from writing buddy Jonathon Pongratz, so you can go rant at him for this horror show : )

When I saw the book title…my first thought was, “another zombie apocalypse”. A wonderful surprise greeted me with an entertaining story that was written with humor, a great story line and new twist on the undead.

  1. It’s good to see you, Tammie! You’re gorgeous! I share your hesitance at being in front of a camera. Here’s hoping my monthly vlog video isnt too horrendous going forward. Looking forward to hearing more about your inspiration behind the book!

    1. Gorgeous? Nah, maybe “not vomit-inducing” is what you meant. Easy mistake. Haha! I just set up the post for the inspiration video…I can’t believe what a goofball ham I am. I think by the time I got done recording these videos, I was getting far too comfortable in front of the camera and couldn’t stop making videos..or blabbering. Nothing like talking to yourself for some intelligent conversation, right? : ))

      1. Lol, you are a hoot! Oh yay! Can’t wait to check it out. Glad you’re getting more used to the idea of videos! Haha, I’m hoping to break out of my shell a bit more this time.

I’ve been looking into video-editing software for the past hour and I’m frustrated, so I’m going back to some writing. Why does every element have to be soooo complicated?

      2. I know what you mean. Writing ends up being the easy part of all this!

I was nearly in tears trying to figure out how to get the video off my phone, then edited and loaded. I probably spent two days sorting it out. But, when I did one more quick video the other day, it only took about 20 minutes to get everything done. Hoorah, I can learn!!

I’m not going anywhere near true editing (beyond adding those graphics at the beginning and end with the iMovie app). I get enough editing with the podcast audio…which was a whole different nightmare to figure out. Ugh.

      3. OMG that was my issue too! I may have finally found an app (I’m not an iphone user) that will give me the option for a little title image and let me insert some text if need be.

I’m probably going to film several days early just to make sure I get all the kinks out and can send on time.

Oh, I’m not going near true editing either! That takes wayyy too much time. I can’t even imagine what you go through with your podcast’s edits. Lordy lordy!

      4. I think my problem was 1) not knowing an efficient way to transfer the files from phone to computer (AirDrop is AMAZING), then 2) everything kept saying the video needed to be MP4 and my phone records in MOV format, but when I converted to MP4 the sound got way off like a poorly dubbed foreign film. Anyway, I got it all sorted and am now an expert (haha). Okay, I’m going o stop reliving that nightmare.

As for the podcast…I think that first episode took me several days to edit and it it still came out terribly. Now, I can usually get the edits and processing done in about 45 minutes. Such a relief.

      5. Ah, see my problem is just being able to edit videos at all. I didnt know YouTube did away with their special add ons until an hour of frustrating back and forth. What a mess!

Yeah, I found an app on my phone that seems like it may work, so I’m just hoping it doesnt let me down.

        We are chameleons!

      6. Luckily, I had no idea YouTube ever had that feature. Since my podcast videos are just a still image, I haven’t had to think too hard after letting the Headliner website make the video for me. Ooh, I’d love to have a chameleon’s google-y eyes!

      7. Indeed you are! I mean, I was seriously going around in circles asking what was wrong with me. Haha!

Can’t they look one way with one eye and the other with the other one? I think I saw that somewhere.
