Not One, But TWO Prizes!

Normally I don’t think of myself as a lucky person – probably due to my natural tendency toward pessimistic sarcasm – but lately I seem to be on a winning streak.

Prize Number One

The first bit of the inning streak occurred last week when I was being selected as one of the winner’s for Strathmore Art Paper’s Ultimate Printmaking Giveaway. I’ve never done printmaking before and, beyond images of Gutenberg cranking out Bibles, I don’t have a clue of what printmaking entails or can produce.

Black paper is great to play around with.

Still, I’m a huge fan of Strathmore’s papers (okay, maybe not so much their watercolor paper) and have really been having fun lately doodling on their black artist tiles (the paper is black, not the artist – just to clarify). I’ve also been taking part in some of their online workshops just for fun (and because they’re free). And, of course, I enter their contests whenever I see them (because everyone likes free shit!). But I never expect to win.

So the pessimistic side of my brain got a big slap in the cerebellum when Strathmore announced I had won. I sent in my address, and today (only about a week later) a huge box showed up at my door filled with all kinds of goodies to experiment with!

Prizes!! Now what do I do with them?

The Winning Continues

Another contest came via the Etsy shop Contortum Designs (whose logo, you may recall, I designed). All I had to do was share what fun or funny thing happened to me over the weekend. Well, it’s been too hot in Portland to have any fun, so instead I shared something that made me laugh over the weekend: Jimmy Fallon interviewing Morgan Freeman while doing helium (see clip below….Captain Morgan, indeed!).

Well, this cop out kept me in the running and I was randomly selected to win one of the shop’s super cute charms (of which there are SOOOO many). The only trouble now is deciding which one I want, but I think I’m leaning toward this little owl charm.
