Last week I asked you what you would like to see more of on this blog. Like any U.S. voting event, voter turn out was a tad slim, but an overwhelming number of you said you wanted to see Tuesdays take a more natural turn by featuring gardening and beekeeping articles.
I may comply with your wishes. However, if I’ve learned one thing in America, it’s that votes don’t really mean anything because the politicians will pretty much do what they like anyway. While I don’t want to seem anything like a politician, I’m having mixed feelings about the results of my poll.
Don’t get me wrong. I love gardening and love to share information about creating lovely little patches of nature without the use of chemicals. And, if I get around to doing another non-fiction book, it will likely be plant related. Also, garden posts would be very little work as I already have oodles of garden-y articles ready to share with the world and, from my previous experience with garden blogging, I’ve learned garden posts generate a crazy amount of traffic to a blog.
So why the mixed feelings?
My current aim with my career is focused on fiction writing and art, and I love sharing the stories behind my creations (as well as doing a bit of shameless self-promotion). I worry that switching the Tuesday focus to gardening may mean I’ll lose the chance to share these two things with my audience. (Note: The idea for travel-related posts would have tied into the history behind my stories as well as a bit of artsy fartsy stuff from around the world).
I suppose I could move these musings to Fridays or just randomly throw in a Behind the Book or Behind the Art post every now and then, but I don’t want to turn this blog into a shelter-skelter mishmash of my brain farts. Wait, maybe it already is….
Mi Blogga Es Su Blogga
I know this is my blog and I can do whatever I like with it, but I’d also like to make the blog something you (and future followers) will enjoy and look forward to.
So my blogging buddies, with that in mind I’m leaving the polls open for one more week. I’d also love to read any of your thoughts on this quandary, so feel free to leave your comments.
Thanks everyone. I look forward to typing at you no matter what you choose!
And don’t forget to celebrate Pancake Day….may the syrups be ever in your favor!
